Before arriving at Bandos, we spent a week at Olhuveli and this made a difference to our impression of Bandos. Olhuveli was much smaller, more intimate and the service and experience was perfectly exceptional. On the other hand, Bandos is a much bigger island and is therefore more impersonal. The rooms were very spacious but I would advise asking for a room close to the pool and restaurants if you have little ones, as you can land up walking quite a lot with baby paraphanalia in the heat of the day.
We thought the snorkelling at Bandos was exceptional- really worth it and this was the highlight of our stay there.
I think most 1st timers to the Maldives will thoroughly enjoy Bandos, but if you have been to another island and are looking for that special, romantic experience- especially if you are a couple - I would recommend looking at a smaller island. For the same amount of money, in our experience Olhuveli won hands down!
