Since its inception, over 70 years ago, the Hotel, known as a museum hotel, has been a repository of art and a home to many famous artists.

Hotel Facilities
• Ballroom
 Royal Ballroom - Probably the only authentic ballroom remaining in India with a spring floor that reduces noise levels, the Royal Ballroom evokes the splendor of Lords and Ladies bowing and courtesying, before they swirled across the floor to the strains of waltz. This is where the distinguished guests amused themselves when the Hotel was opened in 1931 and this is the room where the first grand Ball was held in the presence of Lord Willingdon.
• Bar
 1911 Bar - Set in tones of rich mahogany and dictated by the elegance of art deco, 1911 Bar is a reflection of taste and understated grandeur. Soft Montana leather chairs, period portraiture, stained glass roof and wood panelling add an element of high gloss to the Bar. It boasts two stunning private rooms, called the 'Hardinge Room' and the 'Lutyens & Baker Room.' 1911 Bar offers over 500 varieties of beverages with lounge and club music playing to your mood.
• Outdoor swimming pool
  The Swimming Pool, dotted by the Royal Palms and nestled in the shaded grounds of the Hotel, offers a tranquil, refreshing experience. A well-equipped Pool Bar serves delectable snacks and drinks to the guests. The Fitness Centre, located in the Lobby, provides state-of-the-art Cybex multi-station equipment, lifecycles, treadmills, climber-stepper, cross trainer and bench press with television and channel music.
• Restaurant
 Heralded as one of the top ten restaurants in the world by Condé Nast Traveler, The Spice Route - serving Southeast Asian cuisine, has been designed to reflect the journey of spices from the Malabar Coast in Kerala through Sri Lanka, Malaysia and Indonesia to Thailand and Vietnam. The Restaurant is an overwhelming visual depiction of the art and culture that travelled through these regions.
• Spa
 The soon-to-be-launched Imperial Spa by Six Senses will be sited in the garden grounds with an area of 2,500 square metres. The eleven treatment rooms will include a suite especially designed for traditional wedding preparations and for honeymooners. There will also be an Ayurvedic Centre offering Yoga, two Hammam rooms, a 1500 sq.ft. Gym, a beauty salon for the ladies, barber shop for gentlemen, hydrotherapy area, steam and sauna, whirlpool baths and a multipurpose area for meditation, tai chi, aerobics. A tennis court will be incorporated into the complex.
