Nestled on the tip of Northern Zamboanga, Dakak faces the Sulu Sea in the west and is surrounded by mountains on its east side. North of Dakak are Negros, Cebu and Bohol. To its south is the Mindanao mainland with Borneo and Sarawak beyond the Celebes Sea. Conveniently encircled by all these large island, Dakak tactfully evades the typhoon belt, making it the perfect all-season destination. From Dipolog City, Dakak is a leisurely 45-minute drive.

The only reason I said it was a poor location was not the fault of Dakak Resort but of the local council who seem to be taking their time in tarmacing the road from town to the resort, a distance of about 5 kilometres. The ride getting there and back again was most uncomfortable and very bumpy indeed over sections that had not yet been tarmaced. Once there however with my fiance, her child and myself had a really nice time and would definitely recommend a stay there to anyone; ONCE THE WHOLE ROAD HAD BEEN TARMACED OF COURSE! Would not recommend it though for the disabled as most of the cottages were on little steep slopes. Staff were excellent, always willing to help and with a friendliness I would describe as being genuine and not something taught.
